The Third Week of February

pta council scholarship committee

A special thanks to the PTAs who have contributed to the PTACHC Scholarship Fund for the 2007-08 school year. Thank you to

The Scholarship Committee is organizing in the near future to decide on the recipients of the scholarship awards. Every high school senior in the county is eligible to apply for a scholarship award.  This process is dependent upon the contributions made to the fund.   Thank you to all those PTAs that have contributed and for those PTAs who have not, there is still time to send in your contribution.

The scholarship committee is comprised of representatives from each of our 12 high schools (and/or any other interested PTA member). The committee meets a few times during April/May to review applications and select scholarship winners for this year. If you are interested in serving on this committee as a representative for your high school, please contact Carolyn Folger at 410-379-9030.

Founder’s Day Celebrates PTA Accomplishments

Each February 17, PTA celebrates its founding.  By honoring our past, we renew our commitment to the future.  And we have quite a past to celebrate! Because of PTAs efforts, our nation has

  • Kindergarten in our public schools

  • Labor laws that prohibit children from being in the work force

  • Federally funded hot lunches, that feed 26 million children a day in our public schools,

  • A juvenile justice system that prevents children from being tried and incarcerated as adults, and

  • Rating systems for musical recordings and television programs to guide parents in making choices that are right for their family.

PTA members have the same passion and dedication our founders had to making sure all children have a chance to succeed in school and in life. Thank you to all PTA members for helping us make history. Happy Founders Day!

TREASURER TROVE

Each PTA should have received a tan copy of the Personal Property Return from the Maryland Dept. ofE Taxation and Assessments.  You MUST complete this form by April 15.  Your PTA does not own property but the PTA is an incorporated business so this form MUST be completed and mailed to the state of Maryland.
